These words are always plural in English. They need a plural verb.

You wear clothes but you carry things.

You wear glasses.

Naomi is wearing a long blue coat.

She’s carrying a suitcase and a handbag .

You can also say: Naomi has (got) a blue coat on .

You carry a bag and an umbrella .

In the morning you get dressed or put your clothes on . At night you get undressed or you take your clothes o? .

You put clothes on but you take clothes o? [NOT put clothes off ].

这两本书我恰巧都学过，所以还是可以提供一些意见的。其实新概念侧重的不是词汇，而是综合的英语知识，vocabulary in use则侧重词汇。所以这两套资料本来就不是同一类型的书。

如果你只是想考研啊什么的，新概念四就足够了；如果你有出国，已经掌握足够的英语知识，想加增英语词汇，那就用vocabulary in use吧。

《in use》的词汇高级有好几版，最早的一版是《upper-intermediate and advanced》，我个人不大喜欢那版书，难度跨度颇大。这本书后来被优化成新版（似乎新版没有中文版）的《upper-intermediate》，在词汇方面做了一些调整，完全符合CEFR-B2的标准。如果你有兴趣，还可以进一步学习新版的《advanced》， 那本书是CEFR-C1, C2的难度。
